In order to bring coherence to our new provision, and to ensure that our students’ learning development is maintained and broadened, we have introduced a new Sixth Form curriculum summarised below:

The heart of all students’ Sixth Form curriculum is their A Level studies. We are excited about the move to linear courses as it allows the time for students to develop a deep understanding of their subjects. We strongly believe that the excellent learning environment that the school provides will allow students to thrive when faced with the more rigorous assessment structure.
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is an opportunity for students to produce an extended piece of work on a topic of their own choice, with guidance from staff.
General Studies is valued as an independent subject at AS Level in its own right but it also adds breadth to the curriculum.
Choosing a fourth A Level is an option suitable for the most academic students who will thrive on the challenge of studying four subjects throughout their Sixth Form career.
Games could mean representing the school teams in their wide-ranging fixtures, or could be for recreational purposes and to stay healthy. Options include:
Students will be encouraged to undertake at least two hours of voluntary work per week to give something back to the school and the wider community.
The Team Project strand will reinforce the independent learning habits which the school espouses and will provide a further bridge to university study. Activities such as Young Enterprise, Engineering Society, Law Society and Drama productions could be used to meet this goal.
The Lecture Programme will feature a wide range of speakers covering general interest topics as well as a number of talks from academics to give an insight into what their subject will involve at university.
Online University Courses allow students to demonstrate their independence, initiative and commitment to learning, as well as providing a great opportunity to broaden or extend their understanding of a topic.
