Writing: Muhammed (Year 10)
On 24 January 2025, a group of students from Year 10 were privileged enough to attend GCSE Science Live, located in the Dominion Theatre in London. This immersive experience was an opportunity to listen to some fascinating speeches by renowned scientists and science examiners regarding Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
At first, we listened to a talk by Dr Helen Czerki, who informed us of the fascinating details of the sea, and the millions of things we still haven’t learnt about it. This was followed by a speech on laughter by Professor Sophie Scott, who is a neuroscientist from the University of London. After a short break, we returned to the theatre to listen to Professor Rob Winston on reproduction and pregnancy. This was continued by a talk on GCSE Exam Practice, informing us about ways in which we can score higher marks, like reading the question twice and being accurate in our responses to questions. There was a one-hour break, which was succeeded with a talk on Space and whether time travel is possible by Professor Al-Khalili and finally Chemistry and Colour changes with Professor Andrea Sella.
It was a fantastic day in London, thanks to those who organised it.
