The Box Clever Theatre Company recently visited the school to perform a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet for the Year 9 students. True to the company’s name, the group cleverly utilised simple box structures to create a versatile stage. Although the production relied on minimal lighting, sound and staging, these elements were used intelligently to switch between scenes. This version of the Shakespearean tragedy had a modern twist; with contemporary music played at various points and their energetic and atmospheric performances. Overall, this innovative performance brought the timely play into modern times, making it easier for the audience of students to understand.
