On a cold winter evening in November, the Year 10 and 11 Drama students embarked on the tube for an unforgettable experience of the comedy ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ at the Duchess Theatre.

The evening began by boarding the tube, with chatter and anticipation about the performance we would witness that evening. Arriving in Central London, the Drama students enjoyed a meal in the City of London which was a perfect opportunity to share thoughts about what the play could be about.

After dinner, it was time for the show at the Duchess Theatre, where the Christmas Lights in the West End set the perfect mood for an exciting evening of theatre.

With the curtains rising at 19:30, we were drawn into the chaotic world of ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’, a brilliantly presented comedy of errors which had us laughing from start to finish. The play lived up to its reputation of being one of the funniest shows in the West End. From missed cues to collapsing sets to actors forgetting their lines, the cast really made the audience truly happy that night. The cast’s faultless performance provided inspiration for their own studies, while also showing the importance of precision during performances.

After the show, we retraced our steps back on the Met line, returning home exhausted but full of memories from an invaluable experience that bought the normal classroom learning to life.
