Late Transfer Registration 2018

Thank you for your interest in Dr Challoner’s Grammar School.

As an academy Dr Challoner’s Grammar School administers its own late transfer testing. Admission to Years 8, 9 and 10 (and to Year 7 from 1st January each academic year) will be handled in accordance with the school’s Late Transfer Procedure. Please refer Section 3 of the school’s Admission Policy 2018 for full details, including the late transfer over subscription criteria.

Please be aware that each year we receive a substantial number of students registering to take the test for a very small number of possible places for those who qualify. Therefore many applicants will be disappointed.

Registration for Testing:

Registration for the next round of late transfer examinations is now closed.

Testing Timeline:

  • From 21 September 2017 - Parents register online for Late Transfer Testing

  • 08 January 2018 - Closing date for registering for the test and submitting the online form. If the child lives in the catchment area of the school you must provide evidence of the child’s home address by this date.

  • 23 January 2018 - Candidates are invited via email to take the test being held on Saturday 24 February 2018. The invitation will provide details of the testing arrangements. Confirmation of attendance must be returned no later than 29 January 2018.

  • 24 February 2018 - Late transfer testing session takes place at the school from 9am - 12.30pm.

  • 29 March 2018 - Results of testing are sent via post for those students who undertook the test on 24 February 2018. If qualified waiting list positions are advised.

Testing Criteria

The academic eligibility of candidates seeking admission under the school’s Late Transfer Procedure will be assessed through curriculum based tests in English and Mathematics. Candidates will be required to achieve a minimum standard in each of the tests in order to qualify. We do not provide sample papers and advise that coaching or revision is not required.

Please note: Testing does not mean that there are places available, but allows the school to establish a waiting list of qualified candidates should a place become available.
