In the summer, students in Year 10 faced a two-day challenge from the Working Life company, to create 'a 30 second video advert of Challoner’s appealing to potential new students and their families'.
We had the whole of the first day to prepare, and props, cameras and equipment had sprouted up all around school. Issues with poor weather hindered filming outside, but by the end of the day the footage had been gathered, much of it already edited, and presentations to the judges were being put together. The second day was judgement day: points were awarded not just for the advert but for the way the development was presented and how the students worked together. At midday the top three teams had to present to the whole year. The final judges included Dr Fenton and Mr Sturgeon, along with two experts in marketing and film who had given talks at the beginning of the challenge. Eventually one winner was chosen, but all the finalists' adverts were of extremely high quality and had their reasons to win.
This page features a selection of the adverts produced, and you can see more on our YouTube channel.
