Part of the ICT GCSE course assessment brief for May 2010 from the Edexcel exam board required students to get involved in the environmentally friendly practice of Upcycling. This is the process of making useful or decorative products out of things you would normally throw away.
Edexcel set a competition for students in a bid to find the most useful, exciting, innovative or bizarre Upcycle creations and offered a prize of iTunes vouchers for the winning entry.
We are pleased to announce that one of our groups, Tom Brown, Scott Llewellyn-Beard, Charlie Lacey and Elie Bou-Gharios came up with the winning invention. The team are all serious mountain bikers and therefore decided to make something out of an old BMX bike armed with a budget of £10.After a trip to the local tip they dismantled a bike and two skateboards and created their ‘ski’ bike.It secured their victory and they are now awaiting the first snowfall for a full trial!
