On Friday lunchtime this week, Year 9 student Sam Fraser hosted a charity fundraiser in memory of Liberty Schurer, who sadly lost her battle to cancer in October, aged 14 years. Liberty had been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer that at present has very limited treatment options. In memory of his friend, Sam had his head shaved to raise money for the Ewing's Sarcoma Research Trust, in the hope that future children and their families have a better hope of fighting the disease.

The turnout for this fundraiser was great, with students from all years supporting the event. Although the minimum requested donation was one pound, many donations greatly exceeded this amount - it was heartwarming to see the level of support amongst the school community for this cause.

As of writing, Sam has raised over £1000 for the Trust, which we are proud of him for. If you would like to donate, you can do so either on Sam's fundraising page, or Liberty's family's memorial page:

Our thoughts are with Liberty's family at this difficult time, and we hope that this money will be of use in developing treatments for Ewing's Sarcoma.
