Thirty Year 12 and 13 History and Politics students travelled to Washington DC for the half term break accompanied by Dr Fenton, Mr Curran and Mrs Pearmain.

It was a hectic trip with numerous visits to significant sights such as The Supreme Court, The Capitol Building, the White House and Gettysburg. They were allowed to observe Congress in session and got a glimpse of President Obama as he flew overhead in the official helicopter convoy!

Other trips took in Mount Vernon, home of George Washington, and the theatre where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated and down time was spent going to the cinema and enjoying the shopping malls and buffets with refillable drinks! The students all agreed that it was a highly successful visit that deepened their understanding of US history, politics and culture.
