Writing: Joe Dwyer (Year 8)
On Monday 9th June and Thursday 12th June Year 8, after being divided into their respective Houses, went with the girls' school to the Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre for a team building day. HOAC provide a number of different activities ranging from archery and raft building, through to a 'giant swing' and a high ropes course.
On arrival, we were soon acquainted with our DCHS team mates for a short safety briefing, before the different groups set off on their activities for the morning. These full-on activities had exhausted everyone so much that, by lunch, we had all worked up a fair appetite. The afternoon was host to another exciting activity: in the case of my group, raft building. With 10 people on each raft, five boys and five girls, there needed to be a lot of communication amongst the teams if they were to win. Unfortunately my group missed some of that and our raft fell to pieces within a minute. We nevertheless had a lot of fun, and learnt from the exercise.
It was a hot, tiring day and the activities were challenging, but we all had a fantastic time.
