Last week, four teams from our school’s debating society had the opportunity to participate in the Oxford Schools' Debating Competition.

Despite entering an unknown sphere - some of the teams had never debated formally before - all of the teams performed excellently across their debates, which required some deep thought and insightful commentary. Topics debated permeated a range of traditional subjects and included the need for humanitarian aid in developing nations and the morality of an afterlife.

Overall, this was an excellent opportunity for members of the Challoner’s community to develop their skill set in the debating world and we look forward to entertaining other competitions when the opportunity arises.
