It was another amazing year for Challoner’s students in the Intermediate Maths Challenge, an event that is targeted at students in years 9 and 10 who excel in maths. Whilst many schools just enter the top third of their students, all at DCGS enter because of the high ability and achievement in maths here.
The paper is multiple choice, with marks deducted for getting wrong answers. It requires good core maths knowledge as well as problem solving and perseverance. Nationally 40 per cent of students gain a score worthy of a bronze, silver or gold certificate, but at DCGS 47 per cent of our students were awarded a certificate which is a remarkable achievement.
The photograph shows some of our Gold certificate winners, many of whom are now through to the next round of this event which takes place on 15th March 2012. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
