The annual Year 8 German visit to Cologne has become a real highlight in the school calendar.

This year, 64 students took the four day trip to Germany in order to practise what they had been learning in the classroom. Not only did they get to use their language skills in a real life context, but they also enjoyed learning more about Germany itself, with tours of the city as well as visits to some local museums and the Cologne Cathedral – once the tallest building in the world. A highlight was the trip to Lanxess, the largest indoor arena in Europe, to see the Ice Hockey derby match between the Cologne Sharks and the Düsseldorf MetroStars, where a crowd of over 18000 made for an amazing atmosphere.

Overall, it was a highly enjoyable visit and the students were so enthusiastic that many didn’t want to return home.
