23rd February 2012
7 Thorne have been gearing-up for an ambitious challenge, attempting to cycle, swim and run a combined distance of 1000km for Sport Relief in March.
A large amount of planning and fundraising has already taken place, and they are now preparing themselves both physically and mentally. The students took the opportunity to do some training and think about why the challenge is important to them during the February Enrichment Day. Not only will it be an outstanding personal and group achievement, but the form believe whole-heartedly in the charity and the impact the money raised will make for others.
1000km is the distance from the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland to DCGS. On average, each participant will cycle 26km (to cover the distance from Switzerland to Calais), swim 64 lengths (to cover the distance from Calais to Dover) and run 6.4km (to cover the final leg back to Challoners). Parental support has been fantastic and some have even taken the challenge upon themselves and will be joining in when we cycle around Wendover Woods.
The form has already raised nearly £700, but not yet met their target! If you'd like to donate, you can visit www.justgiving.com/7thorne or text DCGS70 to 70070. Any donations would be very gratefully received and tax can be claimed back through the Gift Aid scheme.
