The Warhammer Club was set up following an event in the LIC several years ago. We discovered how popular this gaming hobby was by the number of students queuing up just to watch the gamers! Mr Keen and Mr Burn run the club every Thursday lunchtime and it is attended by students from years 7 to 11. January saw the school’s first entry into the National Warhammer School League Tournament.
The team of four took part in the Regional heats at Hemel Hempstead and nerves were running high as they first competed against the highly competent team from John Hampden. Things settled down and each member took part in three battles, scoring points for wins and draws and earning bonus points for having well painted and based armies in addition to the gaming materials and books.
After a great day, with exceptionally good play, our team were unfortunately pipped at the post, but Sam Barnes did get the highest individual score of the event. It is good to see that our students are keen to develop their hobby to this level and they are to be congratulated on their good sportsmanship and conduct throughout the day.
