For me, Christmas begins at the Friends of Challoner’s Christmas fayre and this year it has certainly got off to a great start! Both the main hall and the sports hall were filled to the brim with students, parents and siblings eager for a fun-packed day of Challoner’s celebrations. We were entertained by Jazz Band, who played excellently, kicking off the festive cheer. Dozens of stalls offered a vast array of gifts, from jewellery to fudge. Children tried their luck at the games of chance while the curious ventured to the studio to find out about the world’s most popular collectible card game, Magic: the Gathering.
The sports hall was packed with sports-based activities: a penalty shoot out, the table tennis robot, how many basketball hoops can you score in one minute, tin can alley and many more. Having worked up a hunger, there were lots of ways to satisfy one’s appetite, by either heading down to the canteen for a taste of the famous Challoner’s curry or alternatively enjoying one of the delicious burgers and hot dogs cooked on the barbecue outside. Mince pies, fudge, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, seasonally decorated cakes and sweets all provided a sugary feast for everyone’s stomachs.
Yet again the Fayre was a fantastic success, bringing the school’s students, teachers, family and friends all together for a joyful time. All the funds raised will go towards a new minibus. The day would not have been possible without the amazing commitment of the Friends of Challoner’s and a huge thank you goes to them for all their hard work.
