Introspective, a newly-formed Year 12 student band played their first ever gig on Monday in the Drama Studio. A crowd of 180 people flocked to see the band comprised of myself on guitar and vocals, Jack Webb on bass, Luke Miller on lead guitar and Tommy Davies on drums. The concert was raising money in aid of my and Jack’s upcoming visit to Namibia, where we will undertake work with the AfriCat Foundation.

The set contained ten original songs and ten covers, which, along with Challoner’s lighting and sound facilities courtesy of Fergus Robertson and Alex Burn, made for an energetic show that had the whole room rocking! From our popular original Disney Propaganda to the chaos of Arctic Monkeys’ I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, the astonishing energy of the crowd made the evening an incredibly enjoyable experience for all involved and provided a great way to introduce the band, which we hope to continue outside of school.

As it was the 1st April, we decided to ‘Rickroll’ the entire crowd by playing a rock version of Never Gonna Give You Up to finish the set. Thanks to all the staff at DCGS who made this event possible and who supervised on the night, and the wonderful audience who helped us raise a total of £700.
