The first Friends event of the year is a dinner for new Year 7 parents, welcoming them to the school and giving them a chance to get to know the parents of the children their sons will spend the next few years of their lives with. A light-hearted affair, the evening is filled with quizzes and plenty of laughter.
Puzzles began with a 'match the teacher to the fact' challenge, which proved enlightening for both parents and attending staff. Which Year 7 tutor, do you think, formerly worked as a police officer? Which moonlights as a DJ? And did you know that one of our teachers has won gold at the Chelsea Flower Show? Following dinner, Mr Graham read out the results from the perennial Year 7 questionnaire, which as always was full of gems. Who is the scariest teacher, and just how old do the Year 7s think Mr Graham actually is?
A fine evening out, we would like to extend a huge thank you to the Friends of DCGS, who work tirelessly to make these nights happen, and to AiP, who provide the delicious food both for this event and the students' lunches.
