A maniac bully, a pessimistic genius, a seemingly innocent boy led crazy by heartbreak, and a new girl… Punk Rock follows seven Year 12 students battling their way through the highs, lows, and ‘stupefying boredom’ of their first term in Sixth Form.
As the producer, I, therefore, found it very apt when looking at the tremendous talent of the cast and crew, made up of sixteen Year 12s delving their way also into their first term of Sixth Form at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School. And what a way it was to kick off our Sixth Form journey! Not only did students have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in their respective fields (be that in lighting, sound, or acting), but it was also an invaluable chance, due to two months of daily rehearsals, to form some real bonds with a few new faces.
Elizabeth Kenny, who played Lilly Cahill in the performance, had this to say - ‘as an external student, Punk Rock was an amazing opportunity to meet new people and to really get stuck into life at Challoner’s!’
You would often see me in rehearsals at the side of our superb director, Matt Bourne, and we both could not be happier with our experience working on this show. From director’s notes to running down to Tesco to buy last minute props, we loved every second and would like to extend our immense gratitude to the talent of the cast and crew who worked tirelessly to make an amazing show.
