Writing: Dan Chapman (Year 11)
Late on a Friday night a host of Year 11 students gathered at the Elgiva in Chesham to watch an encore screening of Frankenstein based on the novel by Mary Shelly. We saw a superbly captured recording of the National Theatre stage production directed by Danny Boyle, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller as the monster and Victor Frankenstein respectively.
The visit was intended to give students a greater understanding and appreciation for the Gothic genre, proving useful for studying Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (an exam text), which Frankenstein was the forerunner to.
Everyone enjoyed the production, so a big thank you to staff for organising it - the experience will be useful in our further study of English Literature.
