On Friday, Year 12 Culture Club had the amazing opportunity to experience opera, going to see Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro at the London Coliseum in Trafalgar Square.
The Marriage of Figaro is often considered one of the best comic-operas written, telling the tale of Figaro and Susanna’s wedding day which is complicated by sexual intrigue, mistaken identities and surprise revelations. In addition to seeing the opera itself, Culture Club were lucky enough to talk to Tim Anderson, an ex-Challoner who now works for the English National Opera and Mary Bevan, one of opera’s best new stars who plays Susanna.
For most, this was their first experience of opera and it was a thoroughly enjoyable and hilarious experience, even if it could sometimes be a struggle to work out what was happening.
