On Sunday 11 May, the culmination of a joint choral venture ended in spectacular fashion at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre. The concert, led by ex-teacher Ian Hooker, included choral sections from the Grammar and High school as well as Amersham Choral Society. Instrumental accompaniment was provided by the Buckinghamshire Youth Orchestra and the Buckinghamshire Chamber Orchestra.
The group performed Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War. With soloists including Dame Felicity Lott, the event was extremely well received and a great experience for students involved, for many of whom it would have been the first time performing with such a large choir and orchestra. Considering the great success of the event, we hope to be able to join the Amersham Choral Society again soon for another performance.
