15 budding entrepreneurs from Dr Challoner’s Grammar and High Schools formed a Young Enterprise Company called Element. Element provided the innovative service of digitising photographs, negatives and slides to CD form, and VHS to DVD. All company members quickly learnt the value of marketing and preparation in the dog eat dog business world.
The company made over £1000 profit, and their achievement as a professional organisation was significantly recognised. After winning the ‘Premier Company’ amongst other prizes at the Chiltern Awards, Element went on to compete in the County Finals. They secured second place in ‘best use of IT' and first in the ‘best presentation’, ‘most innovative company’ and ‘special achievement’ awards. Ultimately the group came away runners up for the ‘best overall company' which was well deserved.
Element are all incredibly proud of the achievements that Young Enterprise has awarded them but the experience was far more valuable than their extensive awards. Students from Element have gained valuable organisation, marketing and most importantly, problem solving skills within a real business environment. They all offer their upmost gratitude to their volunteering advisors and the Young Enterprise charity.
