Year 9 Business Studies students had a great introduction to the GCSE course when they attended a course, ‘Smart Start to Business’ last Tuesday in the LIC.
They were led by Tim Hall from 'YoungBiz', a company providing business training to youth organisations in the USA, South Africa and Indonesia. In the UK they have links with The Specialist Schools Trust and work with many Inner London schools to engender a culture of Enterprise and Initiative. The DCGS entrepreneurs impressed from the start with their creativity, team work and attention to detail. After a series of warm up tasks (Sweet Trading?!), the students got down to the serious business of turning themselves into potential multi-millionaires.
The Competition winners were 'Paint-kart', with a great concept of paintball fighting fused with Go-karting aimed at the family market. Congratulations to Chris Pickering, Yathavan Thanapalan, Ricky Gill and Jamie Barker.
