The spring term ended with the annual House Swimming Gala, taking place at the Chiltern Pools, a short walk from school. Always a lively affair, it was spiced up somewhat more by the fact that it was the first event to be led by the newly-appointed House Captains, alongside their two deputies.

The races were all very competitive, quite often with centimeters being the difference between the racers. The stand-out event was the individual medley where the task was four lengths of each stroke, something that challenges even the top swimmers. After all the races were finished, as well as the House Captains' race (won by Pearson with Holman and Thorne closely behind) the swimmers gathered by the side of the pool eagerly to hear the results. In the end, 6th place went to Foxell, 5th to Rayner, 4th to Holman and 3rd to Newman. The top two houses were separated by only two points, with Thorne taking 1st place and Pearson left with the silver. The gala was thoroughly enjoyed by all and thanks must go to Mr Sharpe, Mr Deadman and Mr Duggan for organising and running it.
