The other night we saw the summer concert take place and it was very special being Dr Fenton’s last concert with the school. First we saw the Jazz Workshop perform: Brazil, Twist and Shout and Boom Boom this certainly set the tone for an amazing evening of music. Secondly, was the Super Strings, with Miss Gee’s daughter, who performed Canon to a very high standard. This was followed by a guitar solo from the Year 8 student Richie Carr who stunned the audience with his performance of Mazurka Choros. He is doing his grade 8 exam on Saturday, good luck to him. Next we had the Junior Choir performing the two well known pieces Make You Feel My Love and Angels. The String Ensemble was up next performing Chaconne beautifully. The last junior act was a piano solo from Fraser Barnes, a Year 9 student, who played Arabesque No.1 which was performed superbly.
The last few acts were from Year 10 GCSE students, firstly a very striking performance from Gianluca Abbate who sang the well known song Photograph by Ed Sheeran. Penultimately we had the Year 10 Jazz Combo who provided the audience with a very marvellous performance of Honk. Then to finish the evening we saw a remarkable performance from the whole of Year 7, performing a very familiar song of 500 Miles from the Proclaimers. This was an evening of fantastic musicality thrilling the audience and showcasing a huge variety of talent from Challoners boys!
