This week, each year 7 class received a talk from children's author Ali Sparkes, discussing the journey to becoming an author. In the presentation we went 'back to the future' and saw Ali’s younger self, where she struggled to read in class and was inspired to become an actress. It was this acting ambition, which didn't quite work out, that nevertheless resulted in Ali turning to writing.
Ali then wrote many stories and sent them to publishers, although everyone turned them down. Later when she was older she wrote the Shape Shifter series and was accepted: she has now published six books in this series and has gone on to write many other books as well. I would like to say thanks to Ali Sparkes on the behalf of all of Year 7 for giving us a great presentation and valuable tips for becoming an author.
