The Year 9 Activity Week was a resounding success with students being offered the opportunity to experience a variety of different residential visits and activities in this country and abroad.
The two visits to Morocco were, as ever, packed full of adventure. The souks of Marrakech amazed on the first day, while the scenery provided plenty of stimulation as the long days of trekking unfolded. Heat in the valleys contrasted with snow on the approach to the summit. The adventure took them through a number of Berber villages which provided an interesting insight into the local way of life. At the end of each day they experienced authentic Moroccan food and usually, after a few games of cards, fell into bed exhausted!
Vieux Boucau, in the south of France, was the destination for another group who, after a long coach journey decided to kick start their adventure by jumping into the lake! Over the following days they engaged in a whole new range of activities such as windsurfing, kayaking, and mountain biking, sailing and surfing, with White Water River Rafting being a highlight for all. The students provided much amusement during the evening activities, particularly Robot Wars, when they dressed up as robots using cardboard and balloons and then proceeded to have a water, flour, and egg war! The visit was rounded off with a crazy golf competition at a local 18 hole course.
