This year, the DCGS ski trip ventured to Austria and it is a visit that will definitely not be forgotten. On 13th February, around 80 students flew to Austria to either snowboard or ski in the snowy mountains of Saalbach, with expert instructors. The visit lasted a week with the boys staying in a cosy hotel situated on one of the mountains.
The boys were split into groups of ability and then set off with their instructors – however, the boys were not the only ones trying their hands at snowy sports, the accompanying teachers joining the students and racing down the mountains. The skiing was brilliant and the weather was sublime. By the end of the trip, the boys had been awarded medals and achievement cards.
The evenings were thoroughly enjoyable too, with a quiz from Mr Cadman, film nights and even another visit to the slopes to go on Ringo Rings or try night-skiing. Last but not least, Wednesday night held a special trip as the boys went to see an ice hockey match. The home team, EK Zell am See, triumphed 6-4 and won’t be quickly forgotten. The hotel even had a games room for the boys to unwind and spend their evenings in.
The trip was led by Mr Deadman with the help of several other teachers and was a fantastic opportunity for everyone. All boys on the visit would like to give a huge thanks to the teachers and to Mrs Halpin from the Educations & Visits Office who helped make the visit possible.
