Led by Mr Sharpe, House Table Tennis this year was a huge success. Players of a variety of ability levels entered, and ranked themselves within their Houses: from top spin to smashing it was an even game for everyone.
It was tight the whole way through the Year 7 competition but eventually Thorne made a breakthrough, winning narrowly with Newman and Pearson close behind. In the Year 8 competition it was a two-horse race, with Thorne and Foxell fighting for first place. With an equal number of wins from both Houses it came down to points difference, where Thorne narrowly edged past Foxell to a win.
The pressure was now on for the Year 9 Thorne competitors to deliver. It was another close tournament but with great smashes and accuracy, Pearson raced to victory over the other Houses. Foxell came second with Rayner and Thorne coming in a joint third.
Taking part, Ross McKenzie in Year 9 said of the competition, 'There was great sportsmanship all round. Everyone tried their hardest. All credit goes to Mr Sharpe for organising an excellent set of events.'
